As we head into the final month of Winter we can expect to see a lot of planetary action.
As I have mentioned before, the Winter season is a time of rest and respite and letting go of all that needs to die.
If you have been successful in this you may have already started to feel the excitement of the newness that is to come in Spring.
If not, you still have time in August to really go within yourself and look at what needs to be let go of.
If you can’t do this voluntarily, don’t worry-the planets are conspiring to give you the best possible outcome (even if you have to be dragged kicking and screaming.)
On 1st August we are met with the dark moon in Leo and a total eclipse in the same sign.
Since fire sign Leo is ruled by the sun and represents the heart, expect anything to do with your relationship to yourself and others to come up at this time.
Eclipses always bring about change-and whether they are good or bad depends on your perception of things.
If you have been hanging onto anything that you shouldn’t be (patterns, behaviour, people, or jobs) expect some major shake ups.
And even though this can be quite upsetting at the time, there is always a gift once the dust settles.
If nothing else eclipse energy brings about clarity and an absolute need to be true to yourself.
The dark moon in Leo is a time of sitting in silence and putting out to the universe what you would like to manifest.
Things to wish for are:
Love and romance
Creativity
Generosity
Celebration and play
Enthusiasm
Artistic expression
Loyalty
Anything to do with children and how you relate to them
At this time we also celebrate the festival of Imbolc.
The days are getting longer and new signs of life are beginning to stir .New buds and leaves are appearing, and Mother Nature is awakening from her slumber.
Imbolc symbolises new beginnings, fertility, pregnancy, and abundance, and is associated with the goddess Brighid . Call upon her for inspiration and healing.
Mercury moves into Virgo on 11th August where it stays until Sat 30th August.
This placement is good for practicality, common sense, and analyzing problems.
Mercury in Virgo can make you quite thorough in your approach to things and overly preoccupied with detail.
Be aware of a tendency not to see the bigger picture in situations.
On the 16th, Mercury conjoins Saturn which gives a serious, sometimes sombre outlook.
A great day for concentrating and developing long term plans.
Venus moves into Virgo on 7th August where she stays until Sun 31st May.
Venus here is a little quieter than in other signs, but nevertheless still charming and genuinely modest.
There is a willingness to give practical help to other, but also a tendency to be shy and inhibited.
Venus in Virgo can also bring about a critical energy, so think before you speak.
On the 14th a Venus and Saturn conjunction may make you feel rather shy and inhibited.
You may feel like being on your own on this day as you are hard to get close to and feel like no one understands you.
Writing, journaling or meditation would be good today.
Mars moves into Libra on 20th August where he stays until 5th October.
Mars in our chart shows us how we approach life, and when it visits Libra expect love, romance and relationships to be on your mind.
Sexual energy will also be heightened at this time.
Mars in Libra encourages laziness and a “can’t be bothered attitude”, so be aware of this during the next 6-7 weeks.
You may also be tempted to jump into a relationship (or bed for that matter) with the first person that comes along.
Try to employ the Libran trait of weighing up your options before making a rash (sometimes regrettable decision.)
A good time to start an exercise regime to burn off all those good times that you will be having socially.
On the 16th the full moon falls in Aquarius with a partial eclipse.
The full moon is always a time of release, and coupled with the partial eclipse it gives the ability to really let go of anything that no longer serves you, or any projects or plans that haven’t come to fruition.
The Aquarian energy brings ideas, inspiration, and answers out of the blue, so be open to receiving messages from the universe.
Just try not to be detached from your feelings, bring in the balance between the heart and the mind.
On Saturday 23rd August the sun moves into Virgo where it stays until Tuesday 23rd September.
Traits that are highlighted at this time are:
Organization
Practicality
Attention to detail
Analytical talent
Logic
Be aware of a tendency to be too much of a perfectionist and over critical. This can tend to alienate others.
Virgo rules the nervous system, the intestines, and the stomach and these parts definitely come under fire when they are stressed.
Meditation and yoga are good for Virgo natives to ward off the worry and anxiety that sometimes plagues them.
We have two dark moons this month and the second one falls in Virgo on August 31st.
Things to wish for at this time are:
Order
Physicality
Health/diet/exercise
Work/job
Efficient organizing
Letting go of perfection and criticism
Focus
Handling details
On 8th September Jupiter squares Mars which indicates restlessness and a tendency to overdo things.
There may also be a pull between wanting to be leisurely and needing to get things done on the job.
Work first and play later.
On the 10th Jupiter finally turns direct after four long months in retrograde motion.
Things that were seemingly out of reach will now start to be attainable, especially in regards to higher learning, spirituality, finances, real estate, and your career.
A really good time to make plans and set goals for the upcoming months.
See you in Spring!
